Abstract
Research on emotional eating (EE) focuses on the study of emotions and their interaction with eating behavior, and has been associated to physical and mental health problems. However, since the 1980s, the study of this construct has faced dilemmas regarding its evaluation and conceptual delimitation. The present study presents a narrative review of the conceptual evolution of EE, as well as the challenges and future perspectives in researching it. Future research should contribute to clarify and conceptually define this construct.
