Abstract

Inner speech is a common experience for all of us; however, there are currently few ways to study it, particularly in our country. Thus, the main purpose of the present study was to translate into Spanish and confirm the factor structure of the revised version of the Varieties of Inner Speech Questionnaire in a Mexican sample. A total of 300 participants aged 18 or more, completed such revised version. The results showed that the fitness of the model was adequate for an abbreviated version of the scale. In addition, it presents adequate psychometric reliability properties. Some future research avenues are proposed for the field of psychopathology and self-regulation, particularly in areas such as metacognition and executive functioning.
